Check Out Our Nursery
Hi, my name is La Wanna, I am Opal's niece and help by building this website and taking the puppy photos. My child simply love going to play with the puppies. I would like to use this page to tell you about these home raised puppies. Below you will find complete descriptions and links to see photos of where these puppies get their start in life. As you can see by the photos below these puppies are raised in our homes. There are four of us who work together loving and caring for our four-legged family members.
Bonnie's Nursery: ( See photos of Bonnie's nursery )
Bonnie is Opal's sister-in-law (and my mom) who fell in love with Opal's dogs. After Opal gave her two Maltipoo puppies, teaki and Buddy, bother were neutered when they were old enough. Bonnie was hooked, though. She had fallen head over heels in love with the designer Maltipoo breed. After a couple of years Opal helped her acquire two sweet poodle female puppies. After about a year and half more Bonnie decided to have Opal breed her two poodles, Rosie Lee and Susie Mae to a sweet little Maltese male. The result was a bundle of adorable little Maltipoo puppies.
Bonnie has a big fenced backyard and a doggie door in her family room. Teaki, Buddy, Rosie and Susie have the run of the house and they rule the roost. In the evenings when Bonnie sits on the sofa crocheting Teaki sleeps in his basket near her feet, Buddy curls up on the back of the sofa close to Bonnie's head. Rosie and Susie curl up as close to Bonnie as possible.
When there are puppies, Bonnie has a nusery cage right there in the living room at the end of the sofa. Rosie and Susie are in with their puppies wheneer they want. When they want out they are let out. When the puppies are a little older and moving around more Bonnie has two baby play pens that are set up in the living room and or dinning room. One side is kept lowered so Rosie and Susie go in and out as they please. (see photos)
As the puppies get a little older, they are let out of the playpens to play on the family room floor. If the weather is nice Bonnie takes them out in the backyard to romp and play. The puppies are only in the backyard when Bonnie is right there with them, which is at least a couple times a day, however, the mommies use the doggie door going in or out at will.
Since Bonnie only has the three females she only has a couple litter per year (one litter per mommy)
Opal's Nursery: ( See photos of Opal's nursery )
Meet Opal. Opal is a retired lady who has devoted the last twelve years of her life to her four-legged family. Opal Opal spent her life in community service and helping others. she raised four children who now have their own grandchildren. She has always had a deep love for Maltese, Maltipoo & Morkie dogs. Now that she is retired her whole life revolves around her 'babies'.
Opal has a big big backyard with lush grass and beautiful flower beds. Opal spends much time tending her flowers and tending her four-legged family. in her backyard she has a nice shed with a tile floor. the shed actually has heat and air-conditioning and cots in it. It has a doggie door. Her backyard is also equiped with big umbrellas (like picnic umbrellas) that provide nice shadey spots. She has a children's wading pool that gets clean water every single day of the summer. She has various what i call, fun spots around the back yard. there are little tables/platforms the dogs run under jump on top of to lounge in the morning sunshine. The backyard has dozens of doggie toys.
My kids call her backyard a doggie park. It is so much fun to go over in the evenings and site on the back patio watching the kids and flurry of little dogs romping around the backyard.
In fact, before mowing time, she walks around the yard with a big bucket picking up doggie toys. Her rose busshes and fower beds have little fences around them to help keep them from being dug up during the dogs outdoor play time.
Her dogs spend a lot of time in the house but they also spend a lot a time out in the backyard. They come to the family room door and 'ask' when they want inside the house. Often though they prefer to use the doggie door on the shed and go in there to lounge on the doggie cots in the air conditioning. Every day the shed's tile floor is mopped at least once and often two or three times.
There is always fresh food and water in the shed, on the patio and in the family room. Opal feeds mainly Biljac dry adn Diamond dry. However, every evening the dogs also get wet Biljac which is a higher nutrition quality than can food. she does have a couple, what she calls retired females. Those are females that have reached an age to be spayed. they get some can food as well because as they age she feels they need a little something extra. One of those females is a poodle named Shauna. Shauna has been with Opal for many many years and was spayed quite a long time ago. Shauna recently had some dental work done and doesn't have all her teeth so she gets more can food and more wet Biljac then the younger dogs do.
Opal also, often gets called on to take in rescued dogs. she works with them to turn them into potty trained loving pets with good house manners.
Opal has two family rooms connected to each other. Her mommies are pets and go in and out of the house or shed whenever they want. her second family room has a couple of maternity cages that are only used when puppies are first born and need the protection of being out of the reach of the free roaming other four-legged family members. Mommies are never just left in the cages. They are let out early each morning and throughout the day the mommies tell Opal when they want to go in with their puppies and when they want out in the house or outside.
As the puppies are old enough to begin romping and playing Opal has baby playpens in her main family room. When they get a little older and more rambunctious she has mobile puppy fences and they get a little out in the yard time and the rest of the time they romp around the main family room under foot. They love running in and out from under the sofas. When it is resting time Opal returns them to their playpens for their naps.
The family room floor is linoleum and there is always a bucket of fresh mop water. anytime you go to vist Opal is always on the run cleaning up after puppies or has a litter of puppies snuggled up sleeping on the sofa beside her. By the time the puppies re old enough to go their their own homes they are beginning to get the concept of potty training, as Opal begins working on that right away.
Any puppy you get from Opal is healthy, happy, and extremely well socialized. I know because I have four adult dogs now that we got one by one over the years from Opal. actually we got one and a year later got second one. My adult son got one from her and a few months later got a second one. when he went away to the army, I ended up with his two. So now I have four. Bowser, Shine, Leon & Little One. They are the lights of our family. I sincerely recommend a puppy from Opal, Bonnie, Jack & Donna and Jim.
Jack & Donna's Nursery: ( See photos of Jack & Donna's nursery )
Jack is Opal's son and he too fell head over heels in love with his mother's (Opal's) dogs. So he and his wife Donna got three females. They live in the country and they too have a doggie door where the mommies can come and go inside or outside whenever they want to. Their mommies are beloved family pets, too. They actually have a second family room that they set up maternity cages so when the puppies are tiny the mommies have a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of daily family life.
The mommies are only in their maternity cages as long as they want to be. They are let out often, several times each day. As the puppies are a little older and have their eyes open they spend most of their time in the house with the family. They go back the maternity cages only at nap time or night time or when the puppies need quiet time. again, the maternity cages are only used when the puppies are tiny and need the protection of being away from the free run of the rest of the families pets. these puppies and mommies are in no way cage dogs.
Jack is retired, but does work a few hours a week for an assistant to dog groomer. Jack's wife Donna is the sweetest lady you'll ever meet. Between the two of them their puppies are spoiled rotten with love and attention. as soon as the puppies are old enough and weather permitting they take the puppies right outside to potty first thing each morning and several times each day. so by the time you get your new puppy they are already getting the idea of going ouside to potty.
My kids love going to Jack and Donna's to play with the puppies. My son, often spends the weekend there with them and comes home chattering about the puppies non-stop. When you get a puppy from this home, you have a puppy who is extremely well socialized, bouncy, happy and ready to begin life as a member of your family.
Jim's Nursery: ( See photos of Jim's nursery )
Jim is Opal's oldest son. He too is retired and after being around his mother's dogs he soon decided he wanted a couple of his own. His dogs are inside and outside too. They spend much time in the house and much time outside. he has a big fenced yard and also has a little garage with a doggie door, heating and air-conditioning. so the dogs can come and go in and out of the house or garage as they choose. Jime only has a little every now and then. Getting one of Jim's puppies you are definitely getting a puppy that has had a whole lot of attention and handling.
