All of our adults do have very good thick silky hair coats. Although, because our Maltese play out in the yard a lot, in and out of the pool, and romping around the yard, we keep them in fairly short hair cuts. There are actually some cut shorter hair cuts for maltese. Unless you have the time to regularly tend your maltese's hair coat there is nothing wrong with keeping them in a little shorter hair cuts. Just keep in mind, not to cut their hair too short if they are going to play outside as they can sun burn just like you can.

These babies were born August 25, 2009. Momma is a 7 pound registered snow white Maltese and daddy is a 3.4 pound register snow white Maltese named Little Jack.
They love the doggie door and play outside all they want. It has been wet and muddy here so as you can see they look like they enjoy playing outside. They love to cuddle and snuggle. They are fine with sleeping in a playpen or sleeping with us. they take turns sleeping with us at night, but don't cry in the playpen when it is not their turn.
They love toys!!!! They love chew bones, too. But whatever you do, DON'T leave a roll of paper towels within their reach or the livingroom WILL look like a paper snow storm hit it!!!
They are well acquainted with bathing and grooming and toe nail trimming and behave very well for the whole process.
